Festival Breakfast headlines program
MORE than 200 people left AFL Barwon’s Female Festival of Sport Breakfast last Friday more empowered and inspired after listening to some of the region’s prominent sporting figures.
The festival’s headline event was held at GMHBA Stadium’s President’s Room and capped off a week of events highlighting and promoting the role females play in local sport.
An all-female panel including Geelong Cats coach and commentator Daisy Pearce, Commonwealth Games program manager Sarah Albon, AFL representative Lily Graham and local netball player and umpire Emily Green recounted their journeys in sport to those in attendance.
AFL Barwon commission chair and breakfast attendee Michelle Gerdtz said it was an inspirational morning.
“The panel facilitated by Geelong Cats AFLW player and former GFNL netball A Grade league medalist Renee Garing was fantastic,” Ms Gerdtz said.
“It was so great to hear of the different paths each panelist had taken and how each of them is contributing to elevating female sport in the region.
“I thank all of the AFL Barwon and Geelong Cats staff members that contributed to making the event a huge success.”
