The Festival of Colours is coming to Lorne!

January 10, 2018 BY

Due to growing popularity, January 21 will see the event celebrated for the first time on the Lorne foreshore next to the Surf Lifesaving Club from 11am-4pm; allowing holiday makers to enjoy the colour and excitement of this unique festival. Bring your smile, an open heart and a white T-shirt for best results.

Every hour in front of the main stage we will throw coloured powder into the air with family and friends. Colour will spring from our hearts and rain from the sky as we dance and sing together! Meet people, enjoy the stage entertainment, have your face painted or fortune told and soak up the festive atmosphere. This fun and relaxing day is a family friendly event. Super delicious vegetarian/vegan food will be available for purchase throughout the day.

The Festival of Colours celebrates the oneness of human spirit, based upon an ancient festival originating in India. Krishna, the God of play, engaged in throwing coloured powders with his cowherd friends. The festival signifies the blooming of colour which manifests when we exchange heart felt friendship. To celebrate peace and harmony between humanity, the members of Hare Krishna Valley are staging this festival for the visitors and community of the Surf Coast. The Festival of Colours is proudly supported by the Surf Coast Shire.

Hare Krishna Valley is a retreat centre and organic farm situated in Bambra, 1/2 hour from Lorne. Based on the principles of Eastern spirituality, the residents practice bhakti-yoga, protect and care for their cows and hold regular retreats teaching vegetarian/vegan cooking, meditation and yoga to educate people on the importance of natural living and high thinking. On the second Sunday of the month, an open day is held for the those inquisitive to learn more. www.harekrishnavalley.com.au.
