Festival of Kites draws great crowd
The annual Festival of Kites was held at Fisherman’s Beach Foreshore on the weekend.
The free community event serves not only as an exciting day for children and their families, but also as a fundraiser for Jan Juc Preschool.
Surf Coast Kite Festival committee member Emily Torney said the event was brilliantly received by the community
“We were really happy with the attendance.
“It’s in its third year and definitely building traction, so hopefully next year it will be even bigger.”
The Festival of Kites was born from the preschool’s idea that play-based learning is a healthy way for students to learn.
In addition to the spectacular kites that flew throughout the day, there was music and activities throughout the day for all to enjoy.
There was face painting, kite making, a handball target, a Wildlife Xposure interactive show and much more.
The event sponsors included Moby Café, the Surf Coast Shire, the Surf Coast Times, Hayden Real Estate, Signtek Imaging, Coles Torquay, the Great Ocean Road Committee, Bendigo Bank, Torquay Toys, Barwon Water and Surfcoast Veterinary Clinics.
