Festive Fireys: Santa to truck through the Surf Coast
LOCALS are being told to keep an eye out for Santa on Christmas Eve when he makes his way across the Surf Coast on a Torquay Fire Brigade firetruck.
The popular Santa Run returns on December 24 and is expected to attract over 1,000 people to various locations throughout Torquay and Jan Juc.
The Torquay Fire Brigade will run two Santa Run’s; one through Torquay and another through Jan Juc.
Both runs will start at 2.30pm, and Santa will stay at each spot for 10 to 15 minutes.
Torquay CFA first lieutenant, Cameron Martin said excitement was high for the annual event.
“We’ve been doing it for close to ten years now and it’s just a wonderful way to engage with the community,” he said.
“It just continues to get bigger and bigger, with more and more people turning out to each spot.
“Last year we had close to 300 at main stops like Bob Petit Reserve and the Pirate Ship Park Reserve, and I’m sure this year will no different.
“We can’t wait to bring joy to the kids and their families.”
The Torquay Fire Brigade Facebook page will give live location updates throughout the afternoon.
Staff may be called out to an emergency at any time, however, will do their best to keep the Santa Run going regardless.
