Film Festival to surf into Torquay
LOCALS will have the chance to feast their eyes on some of the latest surf films when the Bells Beach Surf Film Festival rolls into town in the new year.
The 13th running of the annual three-day festival at the Australian Surf Museum kicks off on January 4 and will feature ten surf flicks from at home and abroad.
Spencer Frost’s “Corners of the Earth: Kamchatka”, “Following the Line” with Bryce Young, John Teague’s locally film “Belly of the Beast – A Torquay Story” and many more are slated to feature.
Festival director John Foss said excitement was high to build on the amazing showcase held earlier this year.
“This year we are stoked to be screening eight amazing surf films and documentaries over three nights,” he said.
“Opening night features a bunch of great films including Following the Fall Line, Beyond Sunset, Vaimiti, Chasing the Unicorn and the beautiful In the Family Nights from Nathan Oldfield.
“World tour surfer Taka Inoue and his sisters also feature on opening night in Taka Bells and His Sisters, showcasing some great longboard surfing at Bells!
“We are also really excited to present John Teague’s amazing film on the untold stories of the surf industry, community and culture of Torquay.
“Further from home, Corner of the Earth: Kamchatka will take viewers to some of the most remote surf spots on the world and is a fantastic watch.”
Doors will open at 7:30pm each evening, with the films kicking off at 8pm.
Tickets for the three hours of entertainment are $18.
