September 19, 2019 BY

Victorian firefighters Andrew McKinnon, Ellen Harper and Sandra Robinson have arrived in Queensland.

Some local firefighting staff have been deployed to Queensland to provide emergency management support in suppressing the bushfires.

Among the Forest Fire Management Victoria (FFMVic) staff who will be taking on specialist roles are Ellen Harper from Anglesea, Andrew McKinnon from Queenscliff and Sandra Robinson from Colac.

Otway District manager David Roberts said the experience and skills of these individuals would be a great help for Queensland in fighting the fires.

“These are some of our region’s most experienced emergency management personnel, with years of experience in helping respond to fires and other emergencies.

“We’re confident they will provide valuable skills and support to the Queensland fire service during this difficult time.”

The trio are all specialists in different areas. Ms Harper is a logistics officer, while Ms Robinson is an aircraft officer and Mr McKinnon a situation officer.

Ms Harper also led and supported logistics in Queensland in 2018 when there were major bushfires in the state.

Victoria and Queensland often look to share personnel, knowledge, equipment and technology in times of emergency.
