Fitness and fundraising come together at the Surf Coast Trek

March 29, 2024 BY

The Surf Coast Trek will return for its ninth year, fundraising for two local organisations.

THE Surf Coast Trek is returning to the Geelong region for its ninth year on Saturday April 13.

Since 2016, the event has been an annual favourite on the local calendar bringing together fitness and fundraising in support of two local for purpose organisations, Kids+ and the Give Where You Live Foundations.

To date, the Surf Coast Trek has raised over $1.7 million dollars, funding programs such as Kids+ Parent Infant Program which supports premature babies through the first two years of life.

Kids+ chief executive officer Shaun Cannon said the Surf Coast Trek swas one of the best events the region had to offer.

“We are so pleased to be involved in this event which is fun, friendly, and full of community spirit and goodwill.

“Now in its ninth year, the Trek keeps going strength to strength. We are so appreciative of the community supporting this event and our work.”

The Trek begins at first light from Aireys Inlet (40km) or 9am from Anglesea (26km) and takes trekkers along magnificent beaches, breathtaking clifftops, and through the unique Iron Bark Forest, all in the company of supportive and uplifting members of the community.

Each rest stop along the journey has activations, motivational volunteers and plenty of snacks, with the Point Addis rest stop showcasing local drumming group, Wild Moves, who really get the energy levels up after a tough beach walk along Red Rocks Beach.

The Surf coast Trek team invite the community to come down to Elephant Walk, Torquay, on Saturday April 13 from 2pm for a fun, family festival.

Food trucks, a sausage sizzle, lots of kid’s activities and music will provide a wonderful atmosphere to connect with community and celebrate trekkers crossing the finish line.

It’s not too late to register for the Trek. Head to surfcoasttrek.com.au for more information or to sign up.
