A PRIDE of friendly volunteers occupied Gilbert Street last Friday to fundraise for the communities affected by Australia’s recent bushfires.

The Torquay Lions Club stationed their portable barbecue out the front of Bendigo Bank’s Torquay branch to raise money for the bank’s bushfire appeal, which was created in partnership with The Salvation Army.

Surf Coast Quality Meats donated sausages on the day, while Ryan’s IGA supplied other essentials.

Torquay Lion Allen Osman said the club was proud to be part of the fundraiser as giving back was its main aim.
