Folkie festival grows lineup for 2025
MORE than 15 extra artists will grace the stage at the 48th annual Port Fairy Folk Festival in 2025.
From March 7 to March 10, the award-winning Port Fairy seaside village will again become a destination for travellers looking to combine the sun and surf of Port Fairy with their favourite or soon to be discovered artist.
Headlining the additions to the bumper festival lineup are American artists Cat Power and Bonny Light Horseman and English folk singer Lucy Farrell.
Power will perform Bob Dylan’s famous set from his 1966 Royal Albert Hall Concert.
With her own renditions of songs such as It’s All Over Now, Baby Blue, Just Like Tom Thumb’s Blues, and Mr. Tambourine Man, Power inhabits “equal parts conviction and grace and a palpable sense of protectiveness.”
Continuing its tradition of supporting local artists and musicians from across the country, organisers have also added the Briscoe Sisters, Charm of Finches, Checkerboard Lounge, David Arden, Don Walker, Flynn Gurry, Hat Fitz & Cara and many more.
TV personality Brian Nankervis will return to host his popular On the Couch series and Southwest Victoria’s finest Find Your Voice Collective will perform the songs of folk icon Joe Cocker.
Program director Julian Rudge said the festival would again highlight the strength and longevity of the event affectionately known as the “folkie” as a major drawcard for audiences.
“We have audience members who have been coming to the Folkie since 1977! They brought their kids, and now those children have grown up and are bringing their own kids along.
“From contemporary folk artists to the traditional masters, emerging voices to global touring legends, the next festival over the March long weekend has something for all ages and music-loving stages of life.”
The 2025 Port Fairy Folk Festival lineup also includes Peter Garrett & The Alter Egos, Bess Atwell (England), Missy Higgins, Ruthie Foster (USA) and Talisk (Scotland).
