A PROPOSED shopping complex for Winchelsea’s west is under planning consideration.

Surf Coast Shire council displayed plans last week for a new development at 8 Anderson Street that would create eight small retail shops, ranging from 108 square metres to 203 sqm.

Construction plans also include 46 parking spaces and tree planting on a total site area of 3000sqm, with facade designs combining steel, concrete and timber elements.

The Anderson Street site currently an empty block opposite established houses and if nearby a Caltex service station and the Winchelsea Golf Club.

Commercial builder Seabrook Vision proposed to spend $800,000 building the new shopping centre if approved.

Seabrook is developing the site on behalf of Retail Food Group – a Queensland-based company that manages a host of Australian food outlets such as Gloria Jean’s Coffee, Brumby’s Bakery, Crust Pizza and Donut King, among other franchises.

The plan has passed through environmental health, infrastructure and waste management planning and is awaiting sign off from VicRoads and the council before a permit is issued.
