BARWON Water’s new treatment facility in Forrest is fully operational and helping to drive improvements in water quality and water security in the area.

The new $8.75 million plant features the latest technology, an increased capacity and improved operational efficiency.

It responds to any changes in water quality and is backed by frequent testing through the Forrest network.

Barwon Water managing director Shaun Cumming said the upgrade delivered on a commitment to customers.

“The project paves the way for us to deliver long-term water quality, security, and affordability for local customers.

“The upgrade ensures that we can meet the rising demand and maintain high service standards for the Forrest community.”

He thanked the Forest community for their understanding and patience during the construction period which spanned one year.

The original water treatment plant, which was reaching the end of its operational life, has since been decommissioned.

Barwon Water is also pursuing several other projects in Forrest in line with its 2023-2028 action plan.

This includes the development of a concept design and business case for a wastewater management solution, and the second stage of the East Barwon willow removal and restoration project.
