GEELONG organisation Meli will launch their Foster a Future appeal next week, raising funds for its foster care program and highlighting the need for more carers in the region.

The appeal will kick off with the second annual Foster a Future Breakfast on September 5 at GMHBA Stadium, along with raising much needed funds the appeal is also an opportunity to show appreciation for foster carers.

Media personality Kate Langbroek will headline the breakfast, speaking about “those who dare to dream, and those who dare to do.”

“In my life, I have been a dreamer, and a doer -the latter often when I was forced by circumstance,” Ms Langbroek said.

“To turn dreams into action is – I believe – the greatest gift we can give ourselves.”

Ms Warhurst is well known for her role on Spicks and Specks and is the voice behind Alex Trixi on the children’s show Bluey.

The Foster Care appeal will help raise funds to recruit, train and retrain foster carers, along with providing extra support and activities for the children.

Meli chief executive officer Grant Boyd said the event promises to be an uplifting and poignant celebration of local foster carers and highlight the need for more.

“Right now, we urgently need carers of all walks of life, backgrounds, ages and experiences who can provide a stable and nurturing home environment for a child or young person who cannot

live at home with their parents or extended family.”

Meli will also run a raffle with prizes donates by community partners up for grabs, including first prize which is valued at more than $1,600.

To support the fundraising campaign, purchase a raffle ticket before September 4.

Tickets for the event are available until 5pm tomorrow (Thursday August 29).
