Fun in the Sun at Warralily Market
A CROWD of more than 1,500 people flocked into a sunny Mirambeena Play Park on Saturday to enjoy the much-anticipated return of Warralily Market.
The quarterly market boasted an impressive lineup of over 40 stalls, championing local creators, artisans and small businesses from the Surf Coast, Bellarine and Greater Geelong community.
From beautifully designed stationary by Geelong’s Aimee Bourke, to quality handcrafted spirits by Bellarine Distiller, Flowstate and Danny Boy Distillery, the market had something for everyone to enjoy.
Local songstress Pepper Willow captivated the audiences who laid on the lawns for hours on end, while the food trucks and kids activities including face painting, an animal farm and cornhole lawn games were also a massive hit.
Event co-organiser Janina Lear from the Piccadilly Market said the success of the spring market was a true testament to Warralily’s community spirit.
“It was an incredible day.
“I estimate up to 1500 people came out for this local event and loved it!
“So many people asked when the next market is, so there’s plenty of excitement for our November market already.”
Warralily development director Jeremy Minter said Warralily was lucky to have such great outdoor areas for events of this nature.
“It’s wonderful to have community spaces to accommodate such large community events.
“Mirambeena, Wadawurrung for ‘this is your place’, is the ideal park setting, with both vast open space, playground facilities, and amenities.
“It was wonderful to see the community come together to enjoy the market and the great outdoors.”
The next market will be held on November 4 once again at the Mirambeena Play Park.
