GBEA finalists celebrated
GEELONG’S business community came together last week to celebrate the businesses, entrepreneurs and business leaders named as finalists in this year’s Geelong Business Excellence Awards (GBEAs).
More than 200 finalists, award sponsors and members of the Geelong Chamber of Commerce attended the event, which was held at Truffleduck in Fyansford.
The awards, hosted annually by the Geelong Chamber of Commerce and supported by major sponsor LBW Business + Wealth Advisors, recognise excellence in businesses big and small, established and emerging.
Geelong Chamber of Commerce chief executive Jeremy Crawford said he was thrilled to celebrate and extend his heartfelt congratulations to all the incredible finalists of the 2024 GBEAs.
“Being shortlisted for this prestigious awards program is a remarkable achievement, and it’s no small feat,” he said.
“We will shine a spotlight on the extraordinary talent and innovation driving our city forward at our showcase event on October 17th and we are absolutely buzzing with excitement to honour Geelong’s brightest and best.”
Attendees heard from several speakers, including three of this year’s finalists: Cameron Walker from Walker Safety Services, Warick Coleman from Blackman’s Brewery and Justin Collins from Cabinets by Computer.
Each shared stories about the beginning of their businesses, their plans for the next 12 months and insights into what makes their operation unique.
Cathryn Walley, associate principal at LBW Business + Wealth Advisors, who also spoke at the event, noted this year’s awards had seen a 25 per cent increase in nominations and a 12 per cent rise in entries compared to last year.
“The judges had the tough job of narrowing it down to 53 business finalists and seven individual finalists.
“It’s a testament to the incredible businesses you’ve built and the hard work, grit and excellence you bring to your industry.
“LBW has been committed to the Geelong region for over 30 years, and we’ve been thrilled to support the Geelong Business Excellence Awards for more than 15 years. We’re passionate about the success of Geelong businesses because your success is our success.”
This year’s winners will be crowned on October 17 at a presentation event at The Pier, Geelong.
