Geelong community asked to Give Where You Live

THE Give Where You Live Foundation is asking the Geelong community to dig deep and get behind its Give Geelong Appeal which raises vital funds for the area.

The Give Geelong Appeal, which runs over three days from Thursday, May 19 until Saturday, May 21, will be officially launched by 2022 Appeal Ambassador deputy Geelong mayor Trent Sullivan at the Foundation’s Give Geelong Breakfast on Thursday.

Give Where you Live Foundation CEO Bill Mithen said the Give Geelong Appeal needs support now more than ever.

“We need the people of Geelong to come together to help raise funds for our community,” he said.

“Every dollar raised in our Give Geelong Appeal supports the Give Where You Live Foundation’s vital work across the G21 region.

“Your donations have a very immediate and local impact.”

Local businesses from across the region will come together and don their favourite football colours to raise funds for the cause.

The Lyons Construction group, a Gold Partner of the Foundation, is one of many set to take part in the activity.

“Lyons Construction has a long history of supporting the Give Where You Live Foundation and giving back to its community,” said Norm Lyons, chairman of the board at Lyons Construction and former loaned executive and campaign chairperson for the Foundation.

“As a team, Lyons Construction participates in Workplace Giving and holds monthly fundraising morning teas for the Foundation.

“The Give Geelong Appeal is another way for us to show our support for our community.”

Cr Sullivan also encouraged the community to consider supporting the appeal through donation or alternatively getting involved in one of the Give Geelong activities.

“The Give Geelong Appeal allows the community to give back to the city where they live, work, and play.

“The impact of making a donation to this year’s Give Geelong Appeal will be felt in so many ways across our community.

“The team at City of Greater Geelong are all looking forward to joining me in wearing their footy colours this Friday to raise funds for the Appeal.”
