GEELONG will be spotlighted as a hub of defence, aerospace and aviation at the coming 2025 Australian International Airshow and Aerospace and Defence Exposition.

Thousands of people are expected to explore more than 50 activations and stalls from Tuesday, March 25 to March 28 at Avalon Airport.

The City of Greater Geelong and Deakin University will join forces on a special trade stand at the event.

Geelong-based organisations including Air Radiators, KPMG, Avalon Airport, GMS Composites, The Gordon TAFE and RAPP Australia will be showcased at the stand.

Geelong mayor Stretch Kontelj said thousands working in the field were set to attend the show.

“We are thrilled to showcase Greater Geelong’s defence industry capability on the world stage.

“The team will be promoting the competitive advantages our region offers with the aim of facilitating positive economic, employment and educational outcomes for local organisations and institutions.”

Geelong is one of Australia’s fastest-growing regions, leading Australia in Gross Regional Product and job growth over the five years to 2023.

More than $200 billion in government spending, advanced manufacturing and research and strategic infrastructure is leveraged from the region.

“AVALON 2025 will reinforce our region’s reputation as a strong advanced manufacturing and innovation hub,” Cr Trent Sullivan, chair of the council’s economic development portfolio, said.

“This world-class event attracts international industry and government delegations to the region, providing long-lasting economic benefits while showcasing all that Greater Geelong has to offer.”
