Geelong to get non-stop broadcast news service

November 28, 2018 BY

Geelong partnering radio stations K rock and bay 93.9 have expanded in a new studio in the city’s CBD and will offer a 24/7 news service from December 1.

IN their latest expansion plan, K rock and bay 93.9 have announced that Geelong, Bellarine and the Surf Coast will have access to local news through a 24-hour news cycle.

One of Geelong’s most experienced newsrooms, the sister stations’ growing news team will deliver live news services all day, every day out of their Moorabool Street studios from December 1.

Breaking stories and emergency service announcements will be broadcasted quickly and accurately, keeping the community informed through an accessible platform.

Geelong Broadcasters news director Rob Mclennan said the expansion was made possible by the radio station’s recent move into the Moorabool Street studios fitted with the newest digital news and broadcasting technology.

“Our journalists live and breathe news and are totally committed to providing Geelong’s only seven-day local, national and overseas news service,” he said.

General manager Andy Mathers said the plan was exciting for listeners of the station and their team.

“After our recent success at the Australian Commercial Radio Awards, this is yet more exciting news for our loyal listeners, community and advertising partners,” he said.
