Geelong youth council named
THE City of Greater Geelong council announced its new youth councillors on Thursday last week at City Hall.
The council comprises of three members from each of the Bellarine, Brownbill, Kardinia and Windermere wards.
City of Greater Geelong mayor Stephanie Asher said youth council will give young people in Geelong more of a voice.
“This is a fantastic opportunity to advocate for young people across the region, develop leadership skills and learn more about local government.
“I have no doubt these young people will be enthusiastic and strong leaders. Thank you to everyone who put their hand up to nominate.”
The youth council is exclusively open to members aged 12-17.
Farzana Hussaini from the Winermere Ward and Ashley Delaney from the Kardinia Ward have been named junior mayor and deputy mayor respectively.
