Generosity boosts Giving Tree Appeal to all-time high
THE Geelong Giving Tree Appeal has raised more than $130,000 to support individuals and families facing hardships this festive season.
The month-long Meli and Sexual Assault and Family Violence Centre campaign was taken up by many local businesses and individuals.
The ACDP Social Club was the top team donors, raising over $4,000 for the appeal.
All funds will be used to directly support more than 1,900 people to enjoy Christmas Day through the distribution of e-gift cards.
Meli chief executive officer Grant Boyd thanked the community for their support over the month.
“Thank you to everyone who donated, including those who bought a Kindness Chocolate, ran a fundraiser at their business or kinder and, of course, to our incredibly generous partners,” he said.
“Meli, alongside other local organisations, will be able to support more households than ever before, ensuring a brighter festive season for those in our community who need it most.
“We are lucky to live in such a kind community that is the Geelong region.”
The Sexual Assault and Family Violence Centre chief executive officer, Helen Bolton also applauded the generosity and said it would make an incredible impact for adults and children seeking their services.
“We share our heartfelt appreciation to the community, our partners and fundraisers who have gone above and beyond in supporting the Geelong Giving Tree Appeal,” she said.
“With your support, we are able to share with our clients, a sense of community and connection this Christmas.”
