Gibson moves to Happy Spaces
AFTER 14 years at the Surf Coast Shire, Gretchen Gibson has moved on to Happy Spaces.
Ms Gibson has filled a range of roles in her time at the council. She started in customer service, before shifting to tourism, becoming a grants officer, and eventually ending up in economic development.
She said her new role at Happy Spaces is partially an extension of what she has been doing for the council.
“In economic development I’m really passionate about the well-being and sustainability of communities.
“Happy Spaces are not just passionate about hot-desking, but they’re connecting the community. It’s a real holistic approach to business.”
Happy Spaces looks to create co-working places that benefit people’s well-being.
They have premises open in Hampton and Black Rock, with a new one set to open in Torquay in November.
The council’s manager of economic development and tourism Matt Taylor said the council wished Ms Gibson well in her new role.
“We are pleased to be able to support staff seeking career breaks for personal growth and building of skills and knowledge.
“We have no doubt Gretchen will be extremely successful in her role.”
As a long-time Torquay resident, Ms Gibson feels she can bring something unique to Happy Spaces.
“What I feel I can bring to Happy Spaces is that connection to community.
“People know me well and I think they see me as honest and true to my word, and I get things done.”
