TORQUAY Boardriders has locked in a major surfing superstar as a special guest for its Easter Luncheon next week.
Stephanie Gilmore will take to the stage on Wednesday, April 16 and give attendees an insight into her amazing career in surfing.
Gilmore made her debut on the tour in 2005 as a wildcard and has gone on to win eight world surfing titles.
She is the only surfer to ever win a world title in her full rookie season, doing so in 2007.
Gilmore is widely celebrated for her effortless style, skill and power in the water and her engaging personality on land.
Joining her as special guests at the event will be recent World Challenger Series qualifiers Tully Wylie and Xavier Huxtable.
Wylie, who is also Torquay Boardriders Club president, said having Gilmore in the room would be an incredible opportunity.
“She’s had such an amazing career with her eight world titles and has always had a special connection to Bells.
“We look forward to her touching on both of those, particularly her 2022 win, when she came from fifth at the WSL Finals to win the world title.
“She’s arguably the greatest women’s surfer of all time. She is certainly up there as the best guest we’ve ever had.”

The Torquay Boardriders Easter Luncheon annually raises funds to support the club’s development programs and running costs.
The event is the club’s biggest annual fundraiser and features a mega auction and raffle.
“We’ve got some amazing prizes up for grabs, including a new seven-day stay package in the Solomon Islands, and a signed board from Steph,” Wylie said.
“Plenty of local businesses are getting behind it too which is amazing.
“We are always striving for the best, and hopefully it’s a successful day.”
Tickets are on sale for the event via the Torquay Boardriders website.
