July 24, 2019 BY

More than 250 people attended council’s screening of 2040 at Boardriders last Thursday.

INFORMED conversations about climate change are pressing forward around the 3228, with Surf Coast Shire council hosting a screening of 2040 at the Boardriders auditorium last Thursday.

A sold-out crowd joined filmmaker Damon Gameau to watch the thought-provoking documentary before engaging in a Q&A session, where ideas and concerns about the future of the planet were shared between panel guests.

Local climate activist Alex Marshall was among those to speak at the event, as well as Barwon Water managing director Tracey Slatter and independent candidate Damien Cole.

The film – set in the year 2040 – offers a visual insight into what the future could look like if we embraced change and began regenerating the broken pieces of the environment.

Half of the ticket price has been donated to The Intrepid Foundation, which hopes to establish Australia’s first seaweed platform, one of the key solutions to climate change featured in 2040.
