Golf day to commemorate Jarrod Lyle
JARROD Lyle’s golf club will host a golf day next month to commemorate the first anniversary of his death and raise money for Challenge.
Open to members and the public, the event at The Sands Torquay in honour of the former PGA Tour golfer will also include an optional Stableford competition.
Participants are invited to wear yellow and bring gold coins.
The Jarrod Lyle Anniversary Golf Day will be held on September 27. Green fees are $40 (with $5 going to Challenge, of which Lyle was a long-time ambassador), carts are $40, and the competition fee for the stableford competition will be $7.
Contact the pro shop at The Sands Torquay for bookings and provide your GolfLink number if you are playing in the Stableford competition.
Lyle died on August 8, 2018, about a week after deciding to stop treatment for cancer (the third time he had battled the disease) and enter palliative care.
His memorial service, held at The Sands Torquay on September 27, 2018, drew a crowd of more than 300 people, many wearing his signature colour of yellow.
Challenge and the Australian golf industry have invited every golf club in Australia to register for the inaugural #DoingItForJarrod fundraising event this year.
All funds raised will go towards Jarrod’s Gift – the legacy created by Challenge in honour of Jarrod Lyle.
Clubs can nominate a members’ comp days during August or September to become their #DoingItForJarrod day, collecting a gold coin from every participant.
Every golf club that registers will go in the draw to win one of three all-expenses-paid experiences to the Gold Coast to play in the 2019 Australian PGA Championship Pro-Am at RACV Royal Pines Resort and be officially recognised on a PGA of Australia Honour Board.
