GORCC closes its caravan parks and playgrounds
THE Great Ocean Road Coast Committee (GORCC) temporarily closed its Torquay Foreshore, Anglesea Family and Lorne Foreshore Caravan Parks as of midnight of Wednesday last week, following a directive from the Chief Health Officer.
GORCC has also since closed all its drinking fountains, playgrounds and gym equipment, outdoor showers, barbecues and 12 low-use public toilets across the Surf Coast.
In a statement on its website, GORCC said its actions followed further restrictions on domestic and international travel because of the coronavirus pandemic, with all non-essential travel banned. No further bookings will be taken at any GORCC caravan parks, and all existing bookings up until August 31 will be cancelled and refunded in full.
“Our caravan park teams are in the process of advising current guests that they are required to leave the park. We understand that this is inconvenient and frustrating for our guests, but we ask for patience and to work with our team as we enact these changes,” GORCC stated.
“We will be contacting people who have upcoming bookings to arrange full refunds and will also be notifying 12 Month Permit holders separately.
“We will keep our caravan parks closed until we receive further government advice.”
GORCC is not taking individual calls or responding to Facebook messages, and is asking people to get in touch via email at the following addresses:
