Grants available to Men’s Sheds

October 15, 2020 BY

The Support for Men's Sheds grants will help shed's address their most urgent expenses.

MEN’S Sheds across the region are encouraged to apply for grants through the state government’s Men’s Shed Funding Program.

The $870,000 Support for Men’s Sheds initiative will involve grants of $2,300 being given to sheds state-wide to help them pay their most urgent expenses.

Minister for Disability, Ageing and Carers Luke Donnellan said the funds would help Men’s Sheds recover from the hardships of COVID-19.

“I know how tough it’s been during the pandemic, with shedders keen to get back to their sheds as soon as possible,” Mr Donnellan said.

“This funding will ensure Men’s Sheds across Victoria can bounce back quickly, and continue to provide a great place for men to get together and support their local community.”

Men’s Sheds aim to improve the mental wellbeing of its members while also having them work on projects benefitting the wider community.

Member for South Barwon Darren Cheeseman said the grants would help Men’s Sheds continue to serve these purposes.

“Men’s Sheds play an important role in connecting and strengthening the local community – this funding will ensure they remain places for strong community connections,” said Mr Cheeseman.

“These grants are about ensuring Men’s Sheds continue to provide safe places for men to come together and build friendships while giving back to the South Barwon community.”
