Grants open for water saving projects

BARWON Water has announced a new round of community grants for a wide range of initiatives that will benefit local communities.

Applications are now open and are available across Barwon Water’s service region.

Barwon Water General Manager Customers, Community and Strategy Laura Kendall said the program is designed to be inclusive and accessible with a broad eligibility criteria.

“We’re looking for projects that will help save water for the region, make the community a better place to live, improve the local environment, help people to be active and connected, and encourage social inclusion,” she said.

The support program has been given a makeover to allow funding for more projects and will now include community groups, as well as the school grants.

“We hope to support a wide range of projects that will make a positive difference in our local communities,” Ms Kendall said.

“Community groups across our region do incredible work in all kinds of ways and we’re keen to offer practical support through our new grants program.”

The community grants program has a total of $30,000 to distribute with grants of up to $5,000, the school grants program has $25,000 with grants of up to $2,500 available.

Applications for the community and school grants close on March 31, Barwon Water will announce the successful grant recipients in late May, to check the eligibility criteria and for more information head to, www.yoursay.barwonwater.vic.gov.au
