Groundhog day: buses replace trains on Geelong line
COMMUTERS on the Geelong Line will face temporary service changes as buses replace trains for all or part of their journey from Saturday, May 11 to May 19, due to the Waurn Ponds Duplication and other V/Line maintenance works.
During this period, significant alterations will affect the normal train schedule.
On Saturday, buses will replace all trains between Geelong and Waurn Ponds, while train services will continue between Geelong and Southern Cross Station.
Similar adjustments will persist throughout the week.
This Sunday, May 12, buses will handle all services between Waurn Ponds and Geelong until 9:00 PM. After this time, buses will extend to replace trains on the entire route to Southern Cross Station.
This pattern of replacement will vary slightly each day until Tuesday, May 14, with specific early morning and late evening services exclusively using buses.
From Wednesday, May 15, through to the end of the disruption period on May 19, buses will replace all trains between Waurn Ponds and Geelong, maintaining train services only between Geelong and Southern Cross Station.
Notably, the early morning 5.56am service from Geelong to Southern Cross and the late afternoon 4.31pm service from Southern Cross to Geelong will be operated entirely by buses.
Passengers should be aware that replacement buses may depart up to 40 minutes earlier than scheduled train times from Waurn Ponds, Marshall, and South Geelong.
It is recommended to check the temporary bus replacement timetable in advance to plan accordingly.
Travellers are advised to allow an additional 40 minutes for their journey during this period.
The bus replacement stop at Waurn Ponds Station has also been temporarily relocated to the Platform Two side on Muir Road.
