Groups gather for Christmas night market
BUNNINGS Torquay will host more than 20 community groups at its Christmas night market next Thursday and is offering others looking to raise awareness about their cause to get amongst the festive spirit.
The family event for the public is being held in the timber yard and will see Santa arrive by fire truck at 7.00pm, feature a motorised train run by the Lions Club, include games and kids DIY, as well a Christmas dog pageant that will raise funds for Geelong Animal Rescue.
“There’ll be winner for the first, second, third best dressed dog and we have a massive big dog dressed up to be one of the three judges,” Bunnings activities organiser Martina Harris said.
“There will also be a sausage sizzle, ice creams, popcorn, all free for the public. There will be lot’s of fun for everybody.”
The Torquay Surf Life Saving Club, and Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority will be present, as will the Torquay Women’s and Men’s sheds who have produced handmade Christmas trees, coasters and other items to sell.
Ms Harris said there are still spaces available for not-for-profit community groups in the area and those wishing to get involved can call the store on 5261 1800 and ask for Martina Harris, activities officer.
The Christmas night market is on Thursday, December 8, between 6.00pm and 8.00pm, at 1 Beacon Boulevard, Torquay.
