Grove Motors chip in for charity

September 17, 2020 BY

Grove Motors staff work to repair one of Feed Me Bellarine's vans.

A LOCAL business has helped a Bellarine charity get back on the road and continue to help people in need.

Feed Me Bellarine is a community-driven food sharing program based in Ocean Grove and one of the charity’s vans was in need of a service.

The group assists vulnerable families across the Bellarine by providing meals and follows the motto “No Questions. No Agendas.”

Feed Me Bellarine has been particularly busy of late, with COVID-19 significantly increasing the number of people requesting their service, but it was a Feed Me Bellarine van that needed assistance.

Feed Me Bellarine co-founder Lana Purcell took the van to nearby mechanic Grove Motors to get it fixed.

Expecting to receive a bill of more than $1,000, Ms Purcell was pleased to see Grove Motors owner Adam Campbell had instead charged her nothing.

Ms Purcell said she was delighted by Mr Campbell’s kindness.

“He’s always been our mechanic and this time he’s definitely helped us out with getting the van fully serviced and not charging us a fairly large bill,” she said.

“It’s great to receive this kind of support from the community.”

Grove Motors moved premises at the beginning of the year and during lockdown has seen a surge in business.

Mr Campbell said he was pleased to be able to help Feed Me Bellarine.

“We’ve been pretty busy recently, so I thought this would be a good way to help out,” said Mr Campbell.

“It’s just a way of giving back.”
