HEALTH and Hire (HAH) Lorne Beach is hoping to kickstart a recyclable economy in the community by hosting their inaugural Fashion for the Planet event.

Today’s market will see more than ten stallholders supporting the planet by selling, swapping and buying pre-loved clothing and goods on the Lorne Foreshore.

Stallholders will come from all over the Surf Coast for the event, including some well-known local brands who will be contributing on the day.

All funds raised from the event will support the Lorne P-12 College and their music and performance specialist programs.

The market will be held on the Lorne Foreshore and out the front of HAH Lorne Beach.

HAH Lorne Beach member Katie Walker said the event would hopefully encourage the community of the need to be environmentally aware.

“We’ve run previous board swaps and other things before, but nothing like a fashion or vintage market.

“We know lots of local people have plenty of clothes, so what better than helping to support the planet by recycling it all and giving it a new lease on life.

“We are sure it’ll really get the community together and encourage them to embrace sustainability and pre-loved items.”

The Lorne P-12 College will have bands performing on the day, while food and drinks will be available from the HAH Lorne Beach café.

HAH Lorne Beach’s event concept will also be supported by GROW in Anglesea, who will also be hosting a pop-up of their own on the day.

The aim will be to make a pre-loved clothing trail along the Surf Coast in the coming months with HAH Lorne Beach and GROW leading the charge.
