FAMILIES are being invited to cast their vote on the preferred colours of three redesigned local playgrounds.

Community feedback will help shape the future of the Bob Petit playground in Jan Juc, Moriac All-Access Playground, and Ocean Acres playground in Torquay.

The playgrounds will offer the same play features and fun, with minor changes based on community input collected in late 2024/early 2025.

Feedback suggested people love the natural feel of all three sites, which will be retained in the new designs.

Surf Coast Shire councillor Liz Pattison thanked the 118 survey respondents who participated in the opening round of consultation.

“We had some great feedback from the Jan Juc kindergarten families, including the kids who love to play at the Bob Pettitt Reserve Playground.

“We’re ensuring that the Moriac playground remains an accessible playground with an access ramp, wheelchair carousel and swing for people with a disability, while Bob Pettitt Reserve and Ocean Acres playgrounds will meet new access requirements.

“I encourage local families to look at the designs and let us know which colours they think would suit best.”

After the community vote has decided the colours, the playgrounds are scheduled to be replaced between September and November.

Specific timing for each site will be confirmed.

Voting for the playground colours will close on July 3.
