WOMEN around the Surf Coast will now be able to hit the trails with others as Her Trails expand its offerings into Torquay.

Her Trails offers female trail running each fortnight in 20 locations around Australia and New Zealand as well as providing holistic trail running programs.

The business has now added Torquay to their community group runs, with the first one happening this Sunday, November 17, with an approximately 10km run.

Participants will meet and the Rotary Rotunda in Torquay and make their way to Bells Beach and back.

Ash Carpenter has been part of the Her Trails team and participated in several of their events and will lead the Surf Coast runs.

“It’s the same route every fortnight, that’s always where we meet and then people can connect on the alternate weekend or during the week and do runs with each other on other Surf Coast Trails,” she said.

Her Trails have had solo runner and relay teams participate in the Surf Coast Century.

“It’s out and back and people not wanting to do whole 10km, they can shorten it to maybe four, or seven, or eight, whatever suits them.”

The group also sets the pace of the run, making sure nobody is left behind.

Her Trail has had a presence on the Surf Coast over the years, supporting the Surf Coast Century as a solo event and entering teams into the relay.

Founder Sam Gash said one of the reasons for the expansion into the region was because of the number of women from the area heading to the Dandenong Ranges for the run.

She Gash said the running groups catered for everyone within the inclusive platform and were a place for women to be around others.
