THE Highton Probus Club’s bowls section has again won the Harry Kirkland Memorial Bowls Tournament, sponsored by Tuckers Funerals and Bereavement Services.

Skipped by Michael Zentgraf, Highton has joined Werribee as the most winning club with its fourth win.

The contest, put on by the Werribee Probus Club, is played annually at the Werribee Bowls club in memory of foundation member Harry Kirkland.

At the end of the day three teams finished with three wins each, but Highton showed quality of performance by securing first place with the most winning shots overall.

Games were 1×12 ends before a tasty twocourse lunch, followed by 2×10 ends giving teams from rural areas time to get home at a reasonable time.

The day was exceptional as far as weather was concerned and as usual games were played in the spirit of bowls with all enjoying the day, and some of those who did not greet the judge were happy to not go home empty-handed by winning one of the many raffle prizes.

Tuckers Funeral and Bereavement Services, known to local clubs in the Geelong and Bellarine areas, were the presenters of the spoils and help made the day with jovial banter.

Any Probus club wishing to compete in 2020 can phone Peter Harrington on 0404 103 507 or email him at [email protected].
