GREENS member Hilary McAllister is running for public office again in the Geelong region, and will stand for the Greens in Polwarth at the coming state election.

The environmental advocate and Surf Coast local said she had thrown her hat into the ring by a desire to protect the amazing natural environments of the district, and ensure a gas-free, renewable future.

Ms McAlilister – who unsuccessfully ran for the Greens at this year’s federal election – said she was committed to taking action on the rising cost of living, relieving the pressure on Victoria’s struggling health system, making education more accessible, and restoring trust of Victorians in their government through transparency and accountability.

“Representing The Greens will give me the opportunity to facilitate necessary and overdue change a very fragile and beautiful part of Victoria that is already facing the dire consequences of climate change,”

“I hope to amplify the voice of the concerned, the angry and the activated as we fight for a better future for all.

“I am a passionate local ready to fight for our community to ensure our needs are heard in Parliament.

“I hope to grow on the momentum of the Federal election and the climate movement in Polwarth, and ensure the incredible coastlines, forests, parks and waterways we rely on remain healthy and thriving for future generations.

“I believe Polwarth is ready to progress into a clean, green future sooner than the national agenda, and believe that having representatives in the Parliament that push the government to go harder and faster on climate action is pivotal.

“As the representative for Polwarth, I will push the next government to replace coal and gas with 100 per cent renewable energy by 2030, while protecting workers and creating jobs.”
