The Torquay Tigers Football Club has launched into the 2026 season, with a strong turnout for its first Club 52 event of the year.
Members of the club’s coterie arm gathered last Friday for the season launch event, hearing from several high-profile speakers, including Western Bulldogs AFL great Brad Johnson, Geelong Cats premiership defender Matthew Scarlett, former tennis star Mark Philippoussis and racehorse trainer Ciaron Maher.

Club president Cameron Healey also addressed attendees, along with senior football coach Dom Gleeson and netball lead Madi Browne.
Healey said the club was building strongly heading into the new season.

“Last year we rolled out a team entirely of one-point players, meaning you’re either a junior of the club, or stuck around long enough to get downgraded all the way to a single point,” he said. “It’s an incredible achievement.
“We are going to see some extraordinary young talent come through the club too, with many of our under-18 and 16 teams in the best position they’ve ever been in.”

He said a lot of work had gone into the pre-season, both on and off the field.

“There’s a really hard-working community here and there’s a massive amount of work that’s gotten in over this pre-season,” he said.

“We are unveiling new female-friendly rooms and Spring Creek Reserve is looking in prime nick. It’s a jewel of our club and we can’t wait to run on it this year.”

The Club 52 membership program offers members access to home games, club merchandise and regular pre-game reports from senior and reserves coaches throughout the season.
