Horsing incident critically injures 11-year-old boy in Aireys Inlet
A HORSING incident in Aireys Inlet earlier today (Monday, January 17) resulted in one child being flown to The Royal Children’s Hospital in a critical condition.
Officers who arrived at the scene of the incident were told three children were injured when they came off their horses near Iron Bark Drive, Aireys Inlet at about 11.45am.
“One girl was treated at the scene for minor injuries, a 10-year-old girl was taken to hospital with minor injuries and an 11-year-old boy taken to hospital with critical injuries,” a Victoria Police spokesperson said.
“WorkSafe are investigating the incident.”
Paramedics from Ambulance Victoria treated the critically injured boy for upper-body injuries before he was flown by air ambulance to Melbourne.
A Royal Children’s Hospital spokesperson has told the Surf Coast Times the 11-year-old boy is still in a critical condition.
