THE Barwon Health Foundation has held its inaugural House4Health charity home auction, with the Lara property selling on Saturday for $750,000.

Proceeds from the auction will support Barwon Health and better health outcomes for Geelong’s northern communities.

The large-scale fundraiser was made possible by a large collective of supporters and philanthropic businesses from across the region including Bisinella Developments, Hamlan Homes, Ray White Lara and Bendigo Bank.

A lucky local family were the winning bidders of the Barwon Health Foundation Charity House 465 at O’Hallorans Road in the Lara Lakes development.

The four-bedroom home was built by House4Health construction partner Hamlan Homes, with the Lara Lakes block of land donated by Lino and Richard Bisinella from Bisinella Developments.

Ray White Lara ran the live auction after a thorough sales campaign that saw interest from many parties.

Auction day was the Barwon Health Foundation’s largest ever fundraiser in its 22-year history.

Despite the drizzle and cold conditions, a large crowd of Lara community members gathered to celebrate the special fundraiser and watch the auction unfold.

Entertainment was provided by family favourites the Mik Maks, with free family activities and giveaways.

Barwon Health Foundation acting executive director Francis Trainor said the foundation team were thrilled with the outcome of the auction day fundraiser that had such tremendous support from across the community.

“We can never thank the Bisinellas, Hamlan Homes, Ray White Lara, Bendigo Bank and the local businesses, trades and suppliers who helped make this special house and auction day happen.

“This project has been a long time in the making and to see the smiling faces of the winning bidders today and the cheers from the crowd is really the pinnacle of this extraordinary fundraiser.

“We’ve said all along that House4Health is more than just a home. It’s a fundraiser that will now have a positive impact on the health of Geelong, particularly through Barwon Health North and the health services offered to Geelong’s northern suburbs.

“What a brilliant result! Congratulations to the lucky new owners, Paul and Marney.”
