Liberals dump Corio candidate, name new one
THE federal Liberals have announced their second candidate for Corio in the space of a week, with the first endorsed and then disendorsed for reportedly failing to comply with party rules and procedures. About a week after the election date of May 18 was announced, Murray Angus was revealed as the Liberals’ pick to take on Richard Marles in the safe Labor seat, but he was then dumped on April 19. Alastair Thomson was named as the new candidate the following day.

TAFE jobs website launched
INDUSTRY experts in Geelong and the Surf Coast can now find jobs in Victoria’s TAFE sector in one place. South Barwon MP Darren Cheeseman called on local jobseekers to visit the Jobs at TAFE website – jobs.tafe.vic.gov.au – which brings together all TAFE teaching and administrative jobs from across Victoria to a single location. People interested in working
at TAFE can register to become part of the Jobs at TAFE community and receive job alerts, search for jobs in the industries they work in, and apply for advertised roles.

Queens Park bridge reopens to all traffic and pedestrians
THE Queens Park bridge in Geelong has reopened to drivers, cyclists and pedestrians following the completion of repair works on April 18. The original 4.2 metre height limit has been reinstated and traffic management is being removed. VicRoads and Regional Roads Victoria would like to thank the community for their patience during the closure.
