Timed parking introduced in Cameron Road, Anglesea
THE Surf Coast Shire has announced that due to community feedback, the Cameron Road car park in Anglesea has introduced timed fourhour parking. Vehicles parked for extended periods of time are obstructing the community from getting access to the Anglesea Bowling Club, Men’s Shed and visitors to the Anglesea shops. The four-hour timed parking will apply from December 1 to April 30.

Deakin doctor awarded Fulbright Future Scholarship
DEAKIN University Australian Rotary Health Fellow Dr Erin Hoare has received a prestigious Fulbright Future Scholarship to pursue her research into how physical activity and diet influence mental health. The scholarship was awarded by the Australian-American Fulbright Commission, which supports research that aims to improve the health, wellbeing and prosperity of Australians. Dr Hoare, who works at Deakin’s Centre for Innovation in Mental and Physical Health and Clinical Treatment (IMPACT) at Barwon Health, will travel to Boston University to begin a new project using “big data” to analyse health behaviours across generations, in a bid to identify new approaches effective in preventing and treating mental disorders.

Medicare support extended to eating disorders
THE federal government says people living with an eating disorder will be able to get access to life-saving treatment with a $115 million package. Corangamite federal member Sarah Henderson said for the first time, those Australians with severe eating disorders will now be able to access a comprehensive treatment plan under Medicare. “Patients in Corangamite will be able to access up to 40 Medicare funded psychological services and 20 dietetic sessions each year from November 1 next year.”
