Duck season? No season, RSPCA says
THE state government has announced a modified 2019 duck hunting season, but RSPCA Victoria has urged the season to be cancelled entirely. RSPCA Victoria chief executive officer Dr Liz Walker said she previously advised the government to cancel this year’s season based on compelling evidence of steadily declining duck populations, inevitable animal suffering
and concerns the season cannot be adequately regulated by the Game Management Authority. “We acknowledge that the government has announced modifications in the form of a reduced season-length and bag limits, However, we believe these restrictions don’t go far enough.”
