Three-quarters of us resolve to do better in 2019
THREE quarters of Australians (73 per cent) have made New Year’s resolutions for 2019, according to new research by finder.com.au. The survey of 2,010 Australians showed that self-improvement was high on the list. Nearly one in three (29 per cent) want to trim down and tone up, with more women (34 per cent) than men (24 per cent) wanting to lose weight.
Along with dropping kilos, 10 per cent said they want to eat better. Nine per cent said they wanted to travel more in 2019, while eight percent want to get out of debt.

City’s animal management team gets a new look
THE City of Greater Geelong’s animal management team has a new look, with mayor Bruce Harwood and Cr Kylie Grzybek on hand to help launch their fleet of vehicles now branded to enhance visibility and ensure that they can be easily recognised by the community. Visibility and easy identification of the animal management team were raised as issues during the community consultation on the Domestic Animal Management Plan, which acts to guide the team’s key objectives. The team encourages pet owners to remember the importance of responsible pet ownership, particularly over the festive season and the hotter summer months.

Police blitz Boxing Day with Operation Roadwise
POLICE have released the results of their traffic operation on local roads on Boxing Day. Of the 1,533 preliminary breath tests conducted in Geelong, Torquay, Drysdale and Grovedale during Operation Roadwise, no-one was detected over the limit. However, eight penalty notices were issued for exceeding the speed limit, one penalty notice was issued for driving
an unregistered motor vehicle, and two penalty notices were issued for an unrestrained child in a motor vehicle.
