Localised Meetup next week
MEET and connect with like-minded people across a range of industries and establish valuable business contacts at the next Localised Meetup. Find out what’s happening in the Surf Coast business community from both the Surf Coast Shire and Torquay Commerce & Tourism. Entry is free. The Meetup will be held at Peppers The Sands Torquay (Cobden Room), on July 19 from 9.30-11am. RSVP by heading to https://ticketing.localised.com.au/events.

Pet exchange register begins
RSPCA VICTORIA has welcomed the introduction of the Pet Exchange Register. Advertisers of dogs and cats for sale or rehoming now must acquire a traceable source number. Previously, there was no way to know the origins of 50,000-60,000 puppies that come into Victoria each year. “The collaborative effort has resulted in a raft of legislative changes that aim to improve animal welfare in Victoria,” RSPCA Victoria chief executive officer Dr Liz Walker said. “We encourage everyone considering a new pet to ask the breeder or seller for their source code and look them up on the Pet Exchange Register to check they are operating legally.”

Apply for an Australia Post grant
NOT-for-profit community organisations are invited to apply for a 2019 Australia Post Community Grant, with funding of up to $10,000 available to each recipient. The initiative aims to support projects and services that address locally identified needs that strengthen social connections and reduce barriers to participating in community life. Apply online at auspost.com.au/grants. Applications close on August 4 and all applicants will be notified of the outcome in October.
