J Ball hits the Surf Coast

October 25, 2018 BY

J Ball has been designed in a way that it can be played by anyone.

J-Ball, a new social version of hockey developed by Hockey Victoria in partnership with VicHealth and Torquay Hockey Club, has arrived in the Surf Coast.

The game has been designed in a way that it can be played by anyone, regardless of their age, gender, whether they’ve played hockey before, or their fitness or skill level.

The rules of the game are simple and easy to learn in a couple of minutes, even if you’ve never played hockey before.

The equipment (in particular the hockey stick and ball) has been modified so that there is no requirement for shin-pads, mouthguard or any other protective gear.

J Ball is played with 6 players per team on a small field.

The first session was played last week on a beautiful night under a stormy sky.

Games will be held for the next eight weeks from October 25 at the Surf Coast Shire’s sports precinct in Torquay North at the synthetic soccer pitch on Thursdays at 6pm.

To get involved, phone Andrew Crowley on 0417 932 174.
