THE Jan Juc Cricket Club is celebrating the success of another huge car parking bonanza at this year’s Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach.

A team of more than 50 volunteers assisted thousands of drivers with parking their vehicle on site at the 2025 edition of the world’s longest running surf event.

The club’s efforts were spearheaded by life member Phil Smith and 2024-25 Club Person of the Year Daniel Jordan.

Both worked the full fortnight (as well as before the event) and were inspirational in their efforts.

Days started at 5.30am for the teams and went until at least 4pm in the afternoon.

Club president Andrew Penton said he was incredibly proud of the huge community effort amidst trying conditions.

“Rain meant the paddocks offered by Bob Johnson could not be used on one of the days and was otherwise restricted on other days.

“There was just overwhelming support and appreciation from the public as to the efforts of the club members in sometimes trying conditions.

“Most of the volunteers came from families and life members of the club.

“It was not unusual to have two or three members of the one family volunteering on the same and multiple days.”

Managing the parking at the Bells Beach event has been the Jan Juc Cricket Club’s main annual fundraiser since 2008.

More than $10,000 has been invested into the expansion of their junior cricket pathways, and the recent establishment of women’s and girls’ programs.
