Jan Juc Kinder toast successful welcome event
MORE than 200 kinder families and friends turned out at Bob Petit Reserve for the Jan Juc Preschool Welcome Picnic, kicking off another year of education in the local community.
Held on Wednesday, March 15, the event included a Lions Club of Torquay sausage sizzle, popcorn, a disco for the children and a welcome to country from Jan Juc Preschool educator Sue Gout.
Surf Coast Shire Mayor Liz Pattison also spoke at the event, citing her excitement for the year ahead.
Jan Juc Preschool Parent Advisory Group President Paul O’Reilly said the social event provided a fantastic way for old and new families to mingle.
“The event was really well attended by new preschool students and their families and those returning,” O’Reilly said.
“It was a fantastic networking event for people so they could get a feel for the kinder community… kinder is one of the first point of calls for parents to connect with others in that more formal learning space.
“Jan Juc is focused on a lot of play-based activities and what kids are attracted to… really harnessing and being guided by their play.
“We will have four classes of four year kinder and three classes of three year kinder for 2023 which is great numbers.”
Mr O’Reilly said that government funding across both three and four-year-old kinder has certainly assisted with the continual growth of the institution.
Moving forward, O’Reilly said that they hope to keep that growth going in the kinder to continue to make Jan Juc the vibrant community that it is.
With the official open day for the kinder approaching on April 29, Mr O’Reilly encouraged local families to come down and check out the facilities for 2024 enrolment.
