Jan Juc patrol shines a light on mental health
MEMBERS of the Jan Juc SLSC shone a light on mental health and wellbeing at the club’s annual Blue Patrol last weekend.
The men’s mental health initiative saw club members of all ages gather and share empowering stories and strengthen local support networks both on the beach and in the water.
Jan Juc SLSC lifesaving operations manager Olivia Jenkins said bad weather did not dampen participants’ spirits on the day.
“While the weather was a bit miserable, we still had a great day,” she said.
“Some of our members wore blue, and we had streamers at the ready, but the weather didn’t allow us to [use them].
“It [the patrol] has become really important for us.
“It’s a great way to start conversations and promote men’s mental health.”
