MORE than 100 people turned out to raise funds for the Jan Juc SLSC at its 2024 Golf Classic.

The January 4 event at RACV Torquay saw golf fanatics and first-timers alike enjoy a splendid day on the green, complete with a two-course sit-down luncheon and on course activities and refreshments.

Live entertainment on the day was provided by local television presenter and avid golfer Nicky Buckley, author and journalist Peter Ryan and Collingwood Magpies premiership defender Nathan Murphy.

Alongside plenty of raffles and silent auctions, attendees also had the chance to win a Mercedes Benz A 200 Hatch, valued at $66,000 in a special hole in one competition thanks to Mercedes Benz Geelong.

Jan Juc SLSC president Brett Thompson said the annual golf extravaganza again hit the mark.

“Our Golf Classic was such a fun day for the club and we were very grateful to the local businesses who supported the event including Muirfield Financial Services, Hayden Real Estate, Mercedes Benz Geelong, XTM, The Gourmet Pantry, Rip Curl, Flowstate Brewers & Distillers, Bells Beach Brewing and Mt Duneed Estate,” he said.

“We couldn’t hold this event without their support and those who entered the 30 teams to play in the Ambrose tournament.

“There was certainly a lot of excitement on course when golfer Steve Menegazzo made a hole in one, however Steve’s hole in one in one was on the 12th hole, not the Mercedes-Benz Hole on hole 15!

“Steve was still pretty chuffed with his achievement, and it made for a great story back in the clubhouse.”
