JAN JUC Surf Life Saving Club has been rewarded for its fine surf boat season and won the Most Improved Surf Boat Club at the Victorian Surfboat Rowers League (VSRL) Awards.

Led by a new brigade of young rowers, the club climbed from eighth in the 2022-23 premier club points to finish in second place overall in season 2023-24.

Jan Juc was a mainstay on the podium at both national and state level competition.

Head coach Aaron Tanahill said he was incredibly proud of his team.

“We have worked extremely hard to recruit new members, including new rowers, and that has reflected in our recent success at a state and national level in surf boat rowing.

“The club were thrilled to receive the VSRL Most Improved Club. We can’t wait to come back bigger and better next summer.”

The VSLR also inducted seven new Hall of Fame members at the VSRL Awards.

Other award winners included Anglesea’s David “Fanbelt” Eades (Official of the Year), Fairhaven Salamanders (Youth Crew of the Year) and Lorne SLSC (Club of the Year).
