QUEENSCLIFF Football Netball Club celebrated its new netball courts at the weekend with a day full of activities for the kids.

The Netball Courts Celebration/Kids Day Out held at Queenscliff Recreation Reserve on Saturday included kids’ activities such as a jumping castle, face painting and balloon art.

Then from 6pm there was something for the adults, with acoustic music from Covered Ink and a parmi night upstairs.

Netball director Kari Peart said Round 1 was a great start to the season for the Coutas, playing their first official game on the new netball courts and being able to use their new facilities.

“We celebrated this wonderful occasion with some activities for the kids, including a jumping castle, balloon twisting and face painting,” Ms Peart said.

“It was great to see all the smiles.

“We also celebrated with an afternoon tea for past players, sponsors, council members and Queenscliff members while watching the A Grade game, which we won.”

The celebration event comes after the Queenscliff sporting community, council representatives and members of parliament gathered last October to celebrate the official opening of their upgraded sport and recreation precinct.

The upgrades included a new netball game day facility, funded by the state government and council, that incorporates home and away change rooms, toilets, showers, a first aid room, kitchenette, office and storage, and covered decking for spectators.
