Latest update pushes Fishos site vision forward
THE future of the mixed-use site at Fishermans Beach is coming into focus, following the release of the results from the second round of community engagement.
The Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority sought community feedback on the future of the mixed-use site above the Torquay Angling Club via an online survey on its Have Your Say internet page and at two community drop-in sessions.
The consultation process received 588 project page website visits, 42 survey responses and 130 participants in the face-to-face drop-in sessions.
“Thanks to everyone who provided their feedback online or took the time to come down to Fishos and chat to our friendly engagement team,” Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks community director Andy Mathers said.
“Community input has helped us better understand the way the Fishermans Beach multi-use site is used and valued, and also reinforced what a special place it is to so many.
“We are pleased community feedback confirms the design effectively aligns with the key priorities identified in our first stage of engagement.”
Stage two engagement gathered evidence through a using a five-star rating system of community perspectives of the site design.
The satisfaction from residents reflected positive responses to the design, identified during stage one of engagement earlier this year.
Following the second phase of consultation, the final design will remain largely the same as the draft concept design.
The authority has indicated there will be some minor changes in response to community and stakeholder feedback received during stage two engagement.
Those changes will include clarifying the public space, improving appearance and catering for community uses.
The final concept design for the multi-use site is scheduled to be released in early 2025.
